It's Alive!

Given that this is the day before Halloween, it seemed an appropriate title. For over a year I have been too busy with other projects to do much riding or maintain this blog. Some new things are happening, however, that should change that situation. Look for more news soon.

Anyway, this bike is in the shop (replacing a broken front derailleur). I should have it back tomorrow. In the meantime I am working on a posting comparing free Smart Phone apps for cyclists. Should be ready later this week.

More Soon,

Sean On bikeRode 27 miles this morning with Sean. I was fine up to about 20 miles, but then I bonked. Not too hard, but my average speed dropped by about 3-4 mph and even a mild incline felt like a major hill. I tried to do the entire ride on just the energy/electrolyte drink, but obviously it was not enough. I should have had some carbs also. Had them along, just did not eat them. Next time I will know better. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

Update 06-06-2010

Only had time for a quick 14 miles on Sunday morning, as my wife came home from a 1 1/2 week stay in the hospital and rehab facility following hip replacement surgery. She was not supposed to be alone for very long the first two days home, so I went out while the visiting nurse was there. Averaged 16 mph on the way out, but slowed down a bit on the way back, mostly due to heat. We are now in the part of the year in Central Florida when the temperature rarely gets below 80 degrees F., so even riding early in the AM does not get you cool weather. As I have said here before, that is the price we pay for having good riding weather while most of you have snow.Cool

You have found the new home of the Old Guy

Old Guy on a Bike has changed web hosting providers, for a variety of reasons that I won't bore you with. (If you really want to know, email me.) I am still rebuilding parts of the site, but I will be adding new content at the same time.
